First post in a long time.
Just to update, Duke is still the devil with brown eyes.  Look behind one eye and you will find Satan. Look  behind the other and you will see the Devil.Several weeks ago he would not come so we could go home. He simply does not understand the command. I will never tell how long I waited for him to decide to get in the car. Of late, he has been doing the same thing. Usually someone else grabs his collar becomes he iis interested in everyone but me.

Habits

Tonight I put on my shorts (Duke knows this means I'm going outside) went downstairs and got the leash. It was 6PM. Duke knows this means it's time to go to Allen Parkway dog park and got all excited. Instead we went to Melinda's so he could play with Micah and Mickey. He was not having any of it. He sat down and had no intention of playing with them. He wanted Allen Parkway. I had to lift his bottom and push him through the gate. The look on his face said "Excuse me, this is not where I want to be."

New trick

Yesterday Duke was playing with a dog at Buffalo Bayou. The other dog would chase a ball thown in the water by his owner and return it. Duke got the jump on his companion and stole the ball. He started to return to shore then changed his mind and swam to the opposite side. He dropped the ball somewhere and went exploring. Not a good thing because Memorial Drive is right at the top of the hill. After 5 minutes, his curiopsity satisfied, he swam back.

AWESOME

Yesterday at the esplanade, a man stoppped in his car to inquire about Duke. "He's just awesome." We all laughed because that word has not been applied before. At that moment he was not behaving and I was taking him from the esplanade to Dunlavy where he is fenced. I spent an hour and a half on Monday chasng him from one end to the other, unable to lure him to the car when it was time to go home

A Serious Problem

Duke has clawed though the wooden gate at Melinda's twice and escaped under the house. Today he took Mickey with him. Melinda is upset not only because her gate and fence are being destroyed but Duke could cause Micah or Mickey injury. Any ideas?

King of the Mountain

Melinda has a car parked in her carport. Duke has taken to climbing up on the roof. I was over there yesterday and the car is covered in dirty paw prints.

TOO FUNNY

I went next door to play with the dogs this afternoon. I found 2 balls to throw to them. Duke took off with his and was playing with it atop some rolls of carpet. He was trying to hide it when it rolled through the center of the roll. Micah picked it up. Duke was trying to figure where it went. He was pawing, trying to dig a hole. Then he put his head in the roll of carpet. Sure enough, his head got stuck. Not for long but it was hysterical watching him try to shake the roll off his head.
